Hayat her zaman adil değildir.

Harry Scott Gibbons - The Genocide Files, 1997
"..the extermination of the Turks of Cyprus had begun..."

This book was written to give the facts of the recent past of Cyprus. I have done that, and it only remains for me to give my ideas for the Final Solution.

After Turkey had consolidated its physical presence in the north of the island, there was an exchange of populations, and north Cyprus became the Turkish Federal State of Cyprus. There were talks, of course, to see how the two peoples — two different races with two different religions - could live together in peace. No amount of talking has yet discovered this. So eventually, inl983, the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus was formally declared. But the south part of Cyprus is recognised internationally as the legitimate republic, and the Turkish third is not recognised at all, except by Turkey and some of the newly independent Turkic states. But that is not the real problem for the North. It has survived as a separate entity for over 20 years, its people can travel abroad — except to the South — there is a growing tourist trade. It is a happy land, with a happy, easygoing people. The women are noticeable for their good looks. When I lived in Cyprus in the 1960s, unmarried women were seldom seen by outsiders. Now, perhaps because of having their own country where they are safe, they have blossomed into real beauties. And there is almost no crime.

The real problem is that Greek Cyprus wants it, and it wages an unremitting war of propaganda in the hope of persuading the rest of the world to get it for them. It was this propaganda, invariably bullying, even threatening, but ever constant, that brought me back to find out why there is no response from the North. I discovered that the new Republic of North Cyprus has no conception of propaganda, or in this case, counter propaganda. Naively, it believes that the world knows all the facts about the so-called Cyprus "problem". The world doesn't, of course, and so far Greek disinformation - deliberate misinformation -- has sufficed to fill that knowledge gap.

This book has been written to show the problem from a Turkish viewpoint. I have also come to the conclusion, due to my research, that Cyprus Greeks cannot live happily, even peacefully, side by side with Turkish Cypriots. Otherwise, why the Greek obsession with getting rid of the Turks, even to the point of mass murder, as this book has shown. In my opinion, there is no "problem" to be solved. It was solved in 1974 by the Turkish intervention at a time when Greeks were massacring each other. Since then, in North Cyprus, there has been no intercommunal strife, no shootings, no mass murders. That seems a good solution to me. If the Greek Cypriots cannot accept an independent part of Cyprus for the Turks, then they are the only ones who have a problem.

Glafkos Clerides, the recognised head of the Cyprus republic, has written his memoirs in four volumes. The contents are too puerile for good reading, but they do show the Greek Cypriot thinking about the Turks. According to Clerides, every problem the island has is due to the Turks. There is no mention of any Greek murders or massacres. These are always committed by irresponsible people on both sides. This is a typical disinformation ploy leading to the description "atrocities by both sides", a manoeuvre by which the guilty party's sins are expunged. The Turks of Cyprus are blacklisted by most of the world. The European Union has placed an embargo on its exports. But what are the Turks of Cyprus guilty of? Unlike Saddam Hussein they have not dropped poison gas on anyone, they have not invaded any oilrich country, they do not blow up people and buildings, like the Irish Republican Army. They don't even bother to reply to the insults showered on them by South Cyprus. All they want is to be left in peace. But Greek Cyprus is the tail that wags the EU dog, and foreign "mediators" shuttle in and out, trying to pressurise the Turks of Cyprus to surrender, to hand over the north to the south, to be officially downgraded to a minority — to be "protected", of course, by the majority Greeks. And this book shows just what that sort of protection is worth.

Life is not always fair. Take Andreas Papandreou, for instance. He was the Greek who wouldn't fight for his country but who nevertheless managed, after the end of military rule, to run the country as a socialist prime minister for many years, grinding it into poverty through well publicised corruption and other scandals. And the only future the Western world wants to offer the Cyprus Turks is life as second class citizens in their own country. In his memoirs, Clerides lays down his terms for a Cyprus solution. They are the same that Papandreou made years ago — Turkish troops must leave the North, Greeks must have freedom of movement in the North and be given back all their lands and property in the North, and the North must come under the jurisdiction of the South. What does he offer the Turks in return. In truth, nothing.

So there it is. Clerides and his people are utterly inflexible on the subject of Turkish rights in Cyprus. They have none. Their message to Turkish Cypriots seems to be, "What's yours is ours, and what's ours is our own!" I have a better solution. Let North Cyprus retain its independence, with no union with Turkey, Greece or the European Union. Let Turkey contract to look after the North's foreign and defence affairs. In that way it will have a voice throughout the world without the expense of a single embassy, This was the arrangement between Britain and Kuwait for many successful years, so there is an excellent and well-tried precedent. And South Cyprus, Greek Cyprus, can have its own dreams come true. Entry into the European Union, and union with Greece, which appears to be the heart's desire of every Greek Cypriot. I am aware this solution will be sneered at. But I am being realistic. I have been to Turkey often in the course of writing this book. I know how the politicians and military think. And I can say this without fear of contradiction from them.

Neither Greece nor Greek Cyprus will ever get control of Turkish North Cyprus.
Not without going to war with Turkey.
And winning it!

Genocide of Turkish Cypriots

"Genocide - the extermination of the Turks of Cyrpus - had begun. The civilezed world, as the Western nations call themselves, does not like that word genocide!.."

(At the Bosnian war author) Sebastian reported what a United States official told him: At all costs they (the Western nations) had to stay away from the word 'genocide' - the g-word. So they called it 'ethnic cleansing' instead. You couldn't say genocide because that would have required them to act under the UN charter. They would have had to do something to prevent it. Genocide was the whole reason the UN was set up in the first place."

... word of the shooting had spread, and gangs of Greek civilians apparently decided it was an official "open season" day for shooting Turks...."

"Genocide - the extermination of the Turks of Cyprus - had began."

"Genocide in Cyprus erupted in December, 1963, and I was there to see it. It continued until 1974 when, after a bestial feast of slaughter and rapine that shocked th world, the surviving victims gained their own safe haven.
And now the civilised world, in the form of that self-righteous triumvirate, the United Nations, the Europens Union and the United States, intends to breach that safe haven, where there has been peace for 23 years, and let the genocide recommence.
This is the story of the Cyprus genocide."

"What became known as the Christmas War or, in the Turkish version, Bloody Christmas, was actually the Akritas Plan for genocide. There was bloody slaughter of the Turks and the Greeks also paid a terrible penalty in deaths and injuries when

the Turkish fighters hit back, but the Greeks’ aim, enosis, was not realised."...

"the Akritas Plan for Genocide, was not known for years"...

"The Greeks of Cyprus had attempted genocide against their fellow citizens, the Turks, and had failed.

11 years later, they tried again."...

"The second genocide attempt, as it was later revealed, was due to begin some time after 10 July 1974, the actual date not specified. Athens was totally involved in this plan as documents captured later were to prove..."

"The bloodshed continued on the island for 11 years after that Christmas,

but the world had now lost interest.

Those 11 years were hell on earth for the Turkish Cypriots."

Abstract

The Cyprus problem was solved in July 1974, when the Turkish Armed Forces intervened in the vicious civil war that followed a covert Greek invasion and an Athens inspired and led coup that deposed the president. This intervention - which was legal under the terms of the Treaty of Guarantee, which is firmly embedded in the Cyprus Constitution - brought the civil war to an end, overturned the coup and thus forestalled enosis union with Greece , which the coup leaders later said they intended to declare and which was another act specifically forbidden under the Constitution.

"When Makarios, the spearhead of the terrorist organisation EOKA, which had for years murdered Britons, Turks and Greeks alike in its ambition to end Britain’s colonial occupation and unite the island with Greece, signed up to a constitution for the establishment of a new Cyprus republic, he agreed to give up for ever his single-minded quest for enosis." Greek Terrorist EOKA' attacks on British citizens (1955/9),

besides Turkish Cypriots!

Harry Scott Gibbons: From "The Genocide Files"

... While Cyprus was ablaze, Britain had been quietly evacuating British civilians, tourists and residents, and any other tourists who wished to leave, from the 6-Mile-Beach on the east of Kyrenia, on the other side of the town from the Turkish landing force. The aircraft carrier Hermes and three other warships were running a shuttle launch and helicopter service between ships and shore while the fighting was going on a few miles away.

I imagine there was cooperation between Britain and Turkey to avoid the two sides getting tangled with each other. Especially when the helicopters moved west to Kyrenia to pick up 4.000 civilians stranded there.

The Paphos Turks had fought all night, but by Sunday morning they were surrounded. They surrendered and handed over their guns. The Greeks rounded up all the Turkish men, killing some of them in the process. The rest were taken to the soccer stadium, but after a few hours were released. They were rounded up again, herded to a square in the Turkish quarter and kept standing for hours. From them on, they were confined to the Turkish quarter and not allowed to leave, even to visit their wounded in the Greek hospital, without special permits issued by the Natioanl Guard. Heavily armed irregulars of EOKA-B patrolled the streets...  (...)

... On monday, July 22, mobs bombarded the British embassy in Athens, saying Britain was aiding Turkey on Cyprus. 100 Athens police stood by and made no attempt to intervene as mobs smashed windows and threw paint on the embassy walls. They painted slogans, one of them "Pigs sons". They smashed cars outside, including the new Rolls Royce of ambassador Sir Robin Hooper. a Leaglet was distributed - "Englismen, if the Hermes (the British aircraft carrier which had evacuated Britons from the island) does not leave, this will be your grave. Death to the English!" ...

The Greek Cypriots claim that the Cyprus problem was caused by the landing of Turkish troops in 1974 and that if only they would withdraw the problem would be solved. This is a serious misconception, for modern Cyprus question began in 1960 and the landing of Turkish troops was the consequence, not the cause of the problem...

Takviye gelemezdi.

BM Barış Gücü köyün Türk bölgesine gelerek Rumların saldırı hazırlığı içinde olduğunu, silahları teslim ederlerse saldırmayacaklarını, Türk askerinin kendilerini kurtarmaya gelemeyeceğini, BM Barış Gücü'nün kendilerini koruyacaklarını belirttiler. Çaresizdiler, kabul ettiler.

Köydeki 15-20 Mücahit binlerce Rumun saldırısına direnemezdi.
Barış Harekatı'nın 2. Aşaması Kuzeyde başlayınca BM Barış Gücü köyü terk etti. Kuzeyde Türk askerine karşı direnemeyen Rum katiller köy Rumlarının öncülüğünde Türk evlerini gezerek Türk komşularını evlerinden topladılar.

15 yaşından 70 yaşına kadar 84 Türk erkeğini aldılar. Terazi köyünden de 7 Türkü aldılar. 91 Türkü Limasol esir kampına götürme yalanıyla otobüslere bindirdiler. Ancak dağlık bir alana saptılar. TÜRKLERİ indirdiler ve kurşuna dizdiler. Baba, oğul, kardeş, yeğen üst üste düştüler. Yaralıları tek tek vurdular.

4 kurşun yarası alan Suat Hüseyin bir akrabasının üzerine düşmesi sonucu fark edilmedi. Toplu mezarı açmak için dozer getirmeye gittiklerinde Suat Hüseyin yaralarına rağmen kalktı, oradan uzaklaştı.3 gün 3 gece dağlarda yürüyerek bir Türk köyüne ulaştı.

Gizlice İngiliz üs bölgesine götürüldü. Orada Limasol 'dan sığınan binlerce Türk vardı. TMT'ci doktor Ayten Berkalp da oradaydı.14 yaşındaki Suat Hüseyin'i tedavi etti. Katliamın tek tanığı olduğu için yaşatılmalıydı. Özel korumaya alındı. İngiliz helikopteri ile Lefkoşa'ya getirildi.

Katliamı anlattı. Dünya bu vahşeti ondan öğrendi. Bu arada köyde yalnız kalan kadınlarımız aşağılık tacizlere uğradılar, aşağılandılar. Durumlarını gizlice liderimiz Denktaş'a bildirdiler.

Her evin salonunda 5-6 şehit fotoğrafı vardır.

Katiller biliniyor.
Yazık ki Savaş Suçları mahkemesinde Yargılanmalarını bile sağlayamadık.

Two Books: "Love and Death in Cyprus" and "Korean Rose"

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE TO READ, TWO BOOKS:
HARRY BLACKLEY "Love and Death in Cyprus" and "Korean Rose"

'Love and Death in Cyprus' is a novel by Harry Blackley, about a Turkish Cypriot girl, Leyla Özkara and a Scottish pharmacist, Alexander Forbes, who meet and fall in love on Cyprus in 1957. Based on the real events...

* I was delighted when I learned that author Harry Blackley (Love & Death in Cyprus), told me that he was planning another novel, this time set in Australia and the Korean War, especially the contribution of the Turkish Brigade in that “forgotten war”. Like any good storyteller he has blended fiction with some little known facts.

Korean Rose is a great story that I found hard to put down. Call me sentimental but I found the story of Rose McDonald, the Australian nurse, and Kemal Hasol, the Turkish Lieutenant, really moving. The battle scenes and the conditions endured by medical people are brilliantly portrayed. I think this novel will make people sit up and realize how the Turks fought so bravely along side the Australia and New Zealand contingent in a war as bloody as any in history. In recognition of their courage under fire, I was instrumental in the formation of the Victorian Returned Services League Turkish Sub-Branch. It is with pleasure that I recommend people read Korean Rose. You won’t be disappointed.

Bruce Ruxton AM OBE
President of the Victorian Branch of the RSL 1978-2001

* Rose McDonald, a theatre nurse, joins the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps and volunteers to serve in Korea in October 1950. At the same time, Lieutenant Kemal Hasol arrives in Korea with the 1st Turkish Brigade to fight under the flag of the United Nations. Two people from far away countries and vastly different cultures, but there is an immediate attraction. Their love deepens. Will it survive the separation of war and distance?

A Peace Treaty has never been signed following the armistice in July 1953. Korean Rose will make you laugh and cry and wonder at man’s inhumanity to man. The Korean War was a bloody war with over one million South Korean civilians killed. Over two million UN, South Korean and Communist troops were killed, wounded or reported missing.

All wars end. The dead, wounded and mentally scarred are forgotten. The Generals write their memories. Korean Rose is for those story is never heard.../link

The Autor Harry Blackley PhC BA, born in 1934, Scotland, Blackley graduated as a Pharmacist in 1957. He worked in the National Service Royal Army Medical Corps in Cyprus between 1957-59. He then migrated to Australia in 1965.

* NOTE:

I've read the "Kıbrıs'ta Aşk ve Ölüm (Love and Death in Cyprus)", haven't read the "Korean Rose", but I looked at the contents:

In the "Korean Rose" book, there is a General Yazici... a real person Tahsin Yazıcı (1892-1970), a soldier and politician. Thanks to the Turkish troops, the 8th USA army and other forces of the United Nations, are rescued in the Battle of Kunuri - Korea . Our losses was 734 ... It was not our fight... After the Korean War we became a member of the NATO! - SB

EOKA Atrocities to British Citizens: 1955-1959, besides Turkish Cypriots

HERMES SABOTAGE

The destruction of Skyways' Hermes G-ALDW at Nicosia Airport on March 4th was later found to have been caused by a time-bomb placed in the luggage compartment. The explosion occurred 20 minutes before the aircraft was due to depart for the United Kingdom with 68 passengers, mostly Service personnel. The flight was one of twelve per month operated by Skyways between the United Kingdom and Cyprus under a Government trooping contract. The company also operates through Nicosia to the Far East, together with Airwork. These services are being re-routed via Beirut to avoid night stops in Cyprus, although services terminating there are continuing as usual. .../link  / link

The memorial, at the British Cemetery in Kyrenia, northern Cyprus, bears the names of every soldier, sailor and airman who died during the Cyprus Emergency, as it was known, which lasted from 1955 to 1959, and involved a series of terrorist attacks by EOKA (the Greek acronym for National Organisation of Cypriot Fighters).

Can Cyprus overcome its bloody history? / 2009 press link
Several civilians were also killed, including Catherine Cutliffe and her daughter Margaret who were shot while buying a wedding dress in Famagusta, although Eoka denied responsibility for that attack. (*)

(*) But, it was done by EOKA terrorists. - SB

"EOKA gets his supply from GREECE.... There were several explosions at Police installations in Nicosia and Kyrenia. On 21 June the front of the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ataturk Square was blown in, injuring five persons and killing one; this brought EOKA violence into the Turkish quarter of the city for the first time...

...Terror, ofcourse, never strikes quite when or where it is expected. Surprise is its biggest attribute. Grivas issued instructions for a staggered build-up of incidents towards 1 October, and only progressive acceleration thereafter. It was in line with EOKA's history as an organization essentially aimed at the British that Turks were explicitly ruled out as targets. Two soldiers were gravely wounded by one of the mines which EOKA was now adept at manufacturing. Then on 3 October there occured an inciednt which imprinted itself on expatriate minds more than any other in the whole course of the Emergency. That morning an english woman, Mrs Margaret Cutliffe and her daughter Catherine, went shopping in Famagusta for Catherine's wedding dress. Miss Cutliffe recalled at the inquest that as they entered Hermes Street from Edward VII Avenue (the names themselves convey the different worlds the island straddled), her mother had commented on the "peculiar atmosphere" in the town, and the number of people waiting on street corners. They had met a female friend (a German lady married to an English resident) before disappearing into a shop. After browsing Catherine led the way out, heard a commotion, and looked round to see the wto older women fall to the ground. Mrs Cutliffe died instantly from gunfire; the friend was scriously wounded. A man was nearby with a pistol on the recoil. After firing a single shot at the daughter, he ran off. Vatherine also had the recollection of a Greek passer-by observing, with a grin, the dreadful scene.

Amongst the victims of terror, truth is not the least significant. Was it a grin or a grimace that this unidentified witness wore on their face? Who could tell one from the other? Yet the remembrance fixed in most British eyes a general comlicity in the crime on the part of the Greeks of Famagusta. Similarly, the reference to a "peculiar atmosphere" in the town underpinned an assumption that on that Friday morning, in the words of the Times of Cyprus (10 Oct.1958), 'everyone knew something momentous was going to happen'. But as that newspaper also pointed out, the peculiar atmosphere really stemmed from the Macmillan Plan itself. Nor would ordinary citizens be milling about if they had known such a crime was imminent. The Mayor of Nicosia issued a statement taht 'nobody but a lunatic' might suppose EOKA would hand the British such a propaganda coup as the murder of a defenceless woman. Indeed, there is the further twist that Catherine Cutliffe remembered the killer as having blonde hair. Blonde Greek-Cypriots are a rare breed. This led to the supposition on the Greek side that Mrs Cutliffe had been killed bu some other nationality, as an agent provovateur, or as a crime of passion. Some months later Foreign Minister Averoff was to assure Selwyn Lloyd that his Government had solid evidence that the culprit had not, indeed, been Greek. This is hardly convincing on its own, though his persistence on the point is interesting. Grivas was a 'lunatic' for violence, and he had killed enough people not to draw the line at a middle-aged English lady. Yet the Cutliffe killing both symbolized and intensified the wedge driven between Greek and British feelings in Cyprus... " (page 286)

EOKA killed his own "Greek Cypriot" citizens to! The terrorist organisation EOKA was headed by Georgios Grivas, but the orders were given by archbishop Makarios III.

Greek Cypriot researcher and filmmaker Antonis Angastiniotis (docu of Missing Bus-Cyprus) reported to the Greek Cypriot English-language daily Cyprus Mail on Nov. 4, 2004 that: “All Turkish Cypriots know what happened in the villages of Aloa (Atlılar),Maratha (Muratağa) and Sandalari (Sandallar). It is the Greek Cypriots who do not. ... The Greek Cypriots of the neighboring villages, along with army personnel, attacked these villages. They shot the children, the mothers and any old people left in the villages.… For me this became a nightmare because all these years I had been convinced that everything we had done was right.” / link

Levanten Heritage'den İşgal Dönemi ve Sonrası İzmir Resimleri

Levanten Heritage'den işgal dönemi ve sonrası İzmir Resimleri:

Daha ilk resimde:
info from Levanten Heritage:
"The British Consul of Smyrna (Sir Harry H. Lamb on the right?) and wife
at Smyrna Quay during the Kemalist occupation, 9-9-1922."

Answer to that expression: NONSENSE, it was not an occupation but an independence war, this is our land!

"Kemalist Occupation" ne demek...
ben tam tersi oldu diye biliyordum....!

13.üncü resimde de Amerikan bayrağı...

Linkin en altındaki videoda gösterdiği haritada İzmir diye Kırım'ı işaret ediyorlar, coğrafya bilgisi kıt olanın tarihi nasıldır acaba?

O videodan:
* "Survivors of the holocaust" a ne demeli!

* "Starving people" sanki Türkler açlık çekmedi! Yakıp yıkılan Türk şehirleri, köyleri, ekinleri, öldürülen hayvanları... Lafın gelişiyle "kendilerine müslüman"...Savaş vardı savaş!

* Yunanistan gelen Rumlara bakamazmış; "Greece can not take of them", lütfen bu konuda da bizi suçlasınlar...
